The soul/funk group was slated to perform at the Santa Cruz Blues Festival in California on Sunday (26Apr13) and again at the River's Edge Park in Iowa as a part of Loessfest on America's Memorial Day (27May13), but both shows have been axed.
A post on the band's Facebook.com page written by singer Jones reads, "We are very sorry to say that we're still dealing with an urgent family matter, and the Dap-Kings and I will not be able to perform at our two shows this weekend... We hope to see you all soon, and have a safe and restful holiday weekend."
Southern rockers JJ Grey & Mofro have stepped up to replace the group at its first festival slot, while this year's (13) Loessfest will still feature a concert by The Beach Boys, among others.
