Texas - Sharleen Spiteri Snubs Single Tracks
Texas frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri always downloads full albums in favour of singles, insisting real music fans refuse to fast-forward through records.
The Scottish musician and her band are making a comeback with the release of the group's eighth album The Conversation later this month (May13).
Spiteri admits she struggles to keep up with the modern trend of downloading single tracks rather than an entire album, and grows angry with people who don't listen to records in full.
She tells Digital Spy, "My brain still works on a vinyl A-side and B-side, because that's what I was used to when I grew up. I guess I still hear a record in two parts, but I still buy my music online and from shops. I always think a mix is healthy.
"However, I only buy albums - I don't buy tracks. I'm not doing buffet bar s**t, because I don't feel it gives you the artist. If I'm going to talk about someone I like, I don't want to talk about tracks. I can't even sit with someone who fast-forwards songs and they think they're listening to an album. Let the record breathe, for God's sake. You've got to savour things to get to know them."
