Shakira - Shakira Denies Chechen Gig Report

Shakira has reached out to assure fans she is not planning to play a gig for controversial Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov's 35th birthday.

A spokesman for the politician recently announced Kadyrov would be celebrating his birthday next month (Oct11) with a glitzy party featuring performances from the Colombian superstar and British violinist Vanessa Mae.

But the Hips Don't Lie hitmaker has moved swiftly to quash the report, insisting there is no truth in the Chechen government's claim.

In a post on her Twitter.com blog, a representative for the star writes, "Contrary to any misreporting, Shakira is not performing nor was she ever booked to perform a gig for the Chechen President or Government."
