Sex Pistols Sign Record Deal To Re-release 'Never Mind The B*llocks'
Lydon of course had plenty to say on the subject, the NME reporting his as commenting "Music can be great, when done by the great. The Sex Pistols are the greatest. Universal now has a trophy room, music is the imitation of nature, the Sex Pistols are nature, so please give generously. Thank you." Shameless.
The label's Karen Simmonds meanwhile commented "To be given the opportunity to re-evaluate the Sex Pistols catalogue is every music lover's dream. We're looking forward to working with the band and celebrating their impact on worldwide culture." 'Never Mind The B*llocks' originally topped the UK charts upon its release towards the end of 1977, cementing a movement that had seen groups like them, The Clash, The Buzzcocks and The Stranglers among many others revert rock music to its simplest, angriest form, as a protest at the over extravagance that had crept into British guitar music at the time. Personally, though, we loved a bit of Emerson, Lake & PALMER.
