Tv executive Garth Ancier is in the clear after Michael Egan agreed to drop his sex abuse lawsuit against him.
Legal action was launched against Ancier in April (14) accusing him and three other men of sexually abusing Egan in Hawaii in 1999, when the accuser was still a teenager.
However, after Ancier's attorneys filed for a dismissal of the lawsuit last month (May14) stating Egan's claims are "demonstrably false", and Egan subsequently dropped his case on Wednesday (25Jun14).
In a statement to TheWrap.com, Ancier's lawyers state: "We are pleased the case filed in Hawaii against Mr. Ancier has been dropped given it had no merit whatsoever.
"Mr. Ancier was undeserving of the stain to his reputation caused by the plaintiff's reckless complaint, which was grounded in lies. We are equally confident that just as this case imploded when the facts became known, any further legal manoeuvres or gimmicks will fail because unsupported statements, falsehoods and character smears have no place in any court."
X-Men director Bryan Singer and Broadway producer Gary Goddard, both of whom are also facing lawsuits from Egan, filed similar motions requesting dismissal in May (14).
