Sergio Rossi's paper boots

Sergio Rossi is to create a collection of boots made out of rice paper.

The fashion house has teamed up with Chinese artist Peng Wei for the footwear range, although they are not designed to be worn and instead will pay homage to one of China's time-honoured art forms.

Taking Sergio's signature Chelsea boot as a starting point, Wei has created eight unique designs - all hand-painted with traditional Chinese symbols and patterns.

The artworks will be on display in the Sergio Rossi Paris boutique from today (19.10.12) until October 21 to coincide with the FIAC - Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain - Paris' annual contemporary art festival.

The Sergio Rossi label - which is famed for its women's shows - is owned by the French Group PPR. Francesco Russo has been the Creative Director of Sergio Rossi since October 2008. Christophe Mélard was appointed President and CEO of Sergio Rossi in May 2009.
