Robert Zemeckis - Sequel in the works for Who Killed Roger Rabbit?

A 'Who Killed Roger Rabbit?' sequel is in the pipeline.

The film's original director Robert Zemeckis has admitted he has a follow-up script ready for the 1988 cartoon caper and wants to bring it up to the minute with 3D technology, but is waiting for Disney to give the film the green light.

He told MTV: ''I'm happy with the script, it's very good! If I were to do the sequel, it would be done just like the first one. It would look the same way, but we would present it in 3D in its release.''

The original film blended cartoon graphics with live action and starred Bob Hoskins as a toon-hating detective roped in to prove exuberant rabbit Roger's innocence after he is accused of murder.

Robert was quick to slam comparisons to animation giant Pixar and said his sequel would be every inch the ground-breaking classic it was at the time as he plans to stay true to his traditional design aesthetics.

He insisted: ''I would do all of the animation hand-drawn; 2D, but using 3D tools. It wouldn't be like Pixar 3D. It wouldn't look like that... this would again be another period movie.''

However, the director didn't say whether he would consider bringing beloved actor Bob back from retirement to reprise his role as grumpy private detective Eddie Valiant.

The 70-year-old star recently announced he was giving up his profession after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Bob thanked the public for his ''wonderful career'' and expressed his wish to spend more time with his family.
