Sean Lennon Defends Advert

JOHN LENNON's son SEAN has defended the use of footage of his father in a British car advert, insisting the promo helps keep the BEATLE legend "in the public consciousness".
Footage of the late singer features in the ad for the Citroen DS3 vehicle, but has attracted criticism in the U.K. - with some claiming his wife, Yoko Ono, gave the green light for the images to be used for financial gain.
But the couple's son Sean has backed his mother's decision - insisting they both want to keep the star's memory alive.
In a post on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "She did not do it for money. Has to do (with) hoping to keep dad in public consciousness. No new LPs, so TV ad is exposure to young."
And Lennon urges fans to understand the reasoning behind the move.
He adds, "Look, (the) TV ad was not for money. It's just hard to find new ways to keep dad in the new world. Not many things as effective as TV."

I disagree with Sir Gary. The game and cd's will reach mostly Beatles fans and their families. Television will reach a more generalized audience and introduce John Lennon to a new generation of fans.

So..Beatles Rock Band game and the release ofthe new digital cleaned up Beatles collection doesn't keep John in the eyes, hearts and mindsof the public, but a car commercial will?Come on Sean. Come on Yoko. Your justificationis just a lame excuse for commercial exploitation!
