Scott Stapp Heartbroken By Japan Visit

CREED frontman Scott Stapp has paid an emotional visit to Japan to mark the one-year anniversary of the earthquake/tsunami disaster, admitting his "heart breaks for the victims".

The rocker flew out to the country last week (begs12Mar12) and has travelled to Ishinomaki, where he has visited a devastated school and met survivors living in a shelter.

He's documented his trip so far on his Twitter.com page and uploaded photos and videos of his experiences, which include singing at the homeless centre.

In an accompanying post, Stapp writes, "Music therapy session (at) IsraAid shelter. Goal 2help (to help) them escape depression/trauma/shock & feel hope/joy again."

The star, who is also set to perform for the country's troops, adds, "My heart breaks for the victims. One year ago, our friends in Japan suffered a catastrophe of epic proportions. We will not forget the orphans, widows and families that lost every possession they have known.

"God bless the all (sic) those at the US Embassy and our troops on the ground providing medical care, meals and shelter. I am looking forward to performing for our troops stationed in Japan and to let them know that we appreciate the hard work, compassion, and sacrifice required for such an extraordinary humanitarian relief effort."

More than 15,000 died when a 9.0-magnitude earthquake triggered a tsunami which devastated Japan's east coast.
