Colleen Rooney is pregnant with her second child. The announcement was made via Colleen Rooney’s Twitter, admitting that some intuitive folk had already guessed the good news. She told her 849,000 followers: “A few people guessed, so news is out ha!! Me wayne and Kai are thrilled that we are expecting a new addition to our family around May time x”

Mrs Rooney , who is married to the Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney then posted another message to explain that she’d wanted them to hear from her – presumably before the news broke in the press: “Its still only early but bursting with excitement! Also wanted the news to come from us, before anyone else!” Colleen and Wayne have been together since they were childhood sweethearts and married in 2008 when they were both aged 22. Their marriage has not been without its troubles; in 2010 they were plagued with allegations that Wayne had been paying to have sex with prostitutes, though they appear to have overcome those troubles and put them in the past.

Wayne’s fellow Manchester United player Michael Owen tweeted a message of congratulations to the pair, saying “Didn't think you had it in you to fill another pram! Still a couple behind me! Congratulations to you both." On Tuesday, Wayne was present at the opening of the Football Association’s new training facility at St. George’s Park Staffordshire and described it as “the future.”
