Scissor Sisters Sick Of Superficial Us Music Scene

Camp band SCISSOR SISTERS feel under no pressure to succeed in their native US, because they have built up such a huge fan base in Britain. Frontman JAKE SHEARS is saddened by the superficial state of music in America, which he believes is wrongly focused on celebrity instead of creativity. He says, "We have a great fan base and I don't think you could ask for much more. "All I have to do is watch the MTV Awards and thank Christ we don't have to be within a 50-mile radius of it. "I mean, it's more about NICOLE RICHIE than it is about any music thing. That's what I think about when I think about American music - Nicole Richie, who doesn't even make music!" Shears and the band do make an exception for Nicole's father LIONEL RICHIE, adding, "But we do like her dad!"
