Scarlett Johansson - Scarlett Johansson Cast As Psycho Star
Scarlett Johansson has been cast as the actress Janet Leigh in the forthcoming movie Alfred Hitchcock and The Making of Psycho. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Johansson will star in the film alongside Helen Mirren, who is set to play Hitchcock's wife, Alma Reville. Anthony Hopkins is expected to play the role of Hitchcock
The movie had been in development with Paramount Pictures but the project recently made the move to Fox Searchlight. The film is based on the book by Stephen Rebello, which takes a look at the story behind the film that would become one of Hitchcock's most notorious movies. John MCLaughlin (Black Swan) and Rebello have taken charge of the script, which focuses on the relationship between Alfred and his wife. Scarlett Johansson plays the role of the actress whose terrifying shower scene has become one of the most notorious moments in cinematic history, but her role is expected to be smaller than Mirren's and Hopkins.'
The original movie, Psycho, was financed by Hitchcock himself, as no film production company wanted to touch it. It was considered a low-brow choice for a director so advanced in their career. However, at the 1961 Oscars, the film was nominated for four awards, including Hitchcock's Best Director nomination. Janet Leigh won a Golden Globe that year, for her performance in the film.
