James - Saxophonist Red Holloway Dead At 84
Celebrated saxophonist James 'RED' HOLLOWAY has died at the age of 84.
He passed away on Saturday (25Feb12) at a senior care centre in Morro Bay, California from kidney failure and complications of a stroke.
Holloway began his music career in Chicago, Illinois during the 1940s, shortly after completing a stint with the United States Army. He went on to play with a number of notable musicians, among them Billie Holiday, Muddy Waters, B.B. King and Aretha Franklin.
The blues star last took to the stage in September (11) at an event held in honour of jazz icon Lionel Hampton.
