Jazz star and composer Andy Hamilton has died.
The renowned saxophonist passed away on Sunday (03Jun12) at 94 years old, but his cause of death was not available as WENN went to press.
The Jamaican-born musician moved to Birmingham, England in 1949 and went on to form The Blue Notes with pianist Sam Brown.
Hamilton performed regularly in venues throughout the U.K. but only recorded his first album at the age of 72. Silvershine became the best-selling U.K. jazz album of the year in 1991.
Britain's Queen Elizabeth II honoured Hamilton by appointing him a Member of the Order of the British Empire (Mbe) in 2008.
