11 March 2013Big name comedians say new comedy channel aims for 'quality over quantity'
Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, SXSW, YouTube, Google… is this the hippest thing the comedy world has ever seen? If it isn’t, it’s got to be a close second, surely. The Hollywood Reporter have spoken to comedian Sarah Silverman about the new Google-funded YouTube comedy channel that she and comic actor Michael Cera have launched, named Jash.
Sarah Silverman has launched a new online comedy channel named Jash
“We each have pages within Jash and we each can curate those pages," Silverman told The Hollywood Reporter. "This is what we think is funny. It may not be your cup of tea, but there’s no testing involved, there’s no second-guessing of what a 14-year-old boy would like. It’s just a place to do stuff and fail or not fail.” The Pair are joined by Tim Heidecker, Reggie Watts and Eric Wareheim in their new venture, which launched at the annual South By South West arts and technology festival in Austin, Texas.

The impressive group of comedians was reportedly approached by Google, to produce the channel, which is very much in its infancy but does include a “French film noir trailer” courtesy of Sarah Silverman. Also available to watch is a 25 minute short film from Michael Cera, who is currently enjoying the renewed interest in the Arrested Development sitcom, courtesy of Netflix. Wareheim has described Jash as a “no bullsh*t experience,” whilst Cera describes the venture as a matter of “quality over quantity.”
