Alexander Mcqueen - Sarah Burton Launches Second Mcqueen Collection

Sarah Burton unveiled her second menswear collection for Alexander McQueen yesterday (17.01.11) at Milan's Menswear Fashion Week.

The designer - who was named as the label's creative director last year following the tragic suicide death of its founder Alexander McQueen - built on her debut range with oversized coats and capes which played on texture, with leather and fur enlivening the classic wool shapes.

Red, cream, mustard and black shades dominated proceedings, which were given a military feel with trompe l'oeil velvet and silk.

Other fashion houses to show yesterday, included Gucci, who stuck to what they know best - suave Italian dressing, in shades of grey, while Versace's collection was dominated by black, leather belts and patterned knits.

While Gucci and Versace stuck to grey and black D&G brightened up proceedings with colourful gilets and Mickey Mouse print emblazoned skinny jeans.

Paris Menswear Fashion Week will kick off tomorrow (19.01.11) with the Thierry Mugler show where Lady Gaga has been confirmed as "musical director".
