New wave pioneers DEVO have recruited singer SANTIGOLD to produce songs for their first album since 1990.
The Whip It hitmakers are aiming to release the as-yet-untitled project in the spring (10), and frontman Mark Mothersbaugh reveals they were contacted by 20 producers, including Snoop Dogg and Fatboy Slim, to help in the studio.
But they picked 33-year-old Santigold to remix their tracks.
She tells Paste Magazine, "They’re just, like, my band idols. Them and The Smiths. But DEVO, I made them pull out the red hats and pose for a picture."
The album will be the band's first since 1990's Smooth Noodle Maps.
