Shania Twain - Sandy Threatened Shania Twain's Vegas Debut

Shania Twain's Las Vegas stage show was nearly derailed by superstorm Sandy in October (12) when her stylist lost power in his New York City office while rushing to finish the singer's costumes.

Marc Bouwer, who has styled Twain for the last 15 years, spent six months in the Big Apple creating the outfits for the star to wear during her 24-month residency at Caesars Palace' Colosseum theatre.

The concerts kicked off without a hitch on Saturday (01Dec12), but Bouwer reveals he faced a race against the clock to meet his deadline after Sandy hit America's East Coast and knocked out his electricity, leaving him to stitch his designs by hand instead of using a sewing machine.

He tells Canada's Toronto Sun newspaper, "We didn't get water damage (during Sandy as) our office is on the top floor, but we have three skylights, so we were petrified the stuff would get damaged so we wrapped it all up in plastic and we locked it in a room. And fortunately there was no damage there at all but we were two weeks without power and I was supposed to have done a lot of work then.

"So it was nightmarish. And we sat in the windows in the sunlight and sewed by hand for almost two weeks. I've never been so stressed out about anything because I knew that they were relying on me for the costumes. There was nobody else on board, it was me for her costumes. But we persevered."
