William Bennett - San Francisco Symphony's Head Oboist Dies At 56
01 March 2013Classical musician William Bennett has died, five days after collapsing onstage during a performance in California last weekend (23Feb13).
The San Francisco Symphony's principal oboist suffered a brain haemorrhage while playing with the city orchestra at the Davies Symphony Hall.
He was hospitalised but passed away on Thursday (28Feb13). He was 56.
The musician joined the San Francisco Symphony in 1979 and played a key role in the group's series of Gustav Mahler recordings, which have won the orchetra multiple Grammy Awards in the past decade.
