Samuel L Jackson - Samuel L Jackson Reads 'Go The F*ck To Sleep'
Samuel L Jackson has lent his voice to an expletive ridden children's book titled 'Go The F*** To Sleep'. The parody kid's story by Adam Mansbach sold more than 100,000 copies in pre-orders after bootleg versions of the book leaked earlier this year, reports Cbs News.
Brooklyn publisher Akashic Books moved the publication from October to 14th June 2011 to help cope with the demand. Jackson lends his voice to an audiobook version of the story, and also provides the introduction to the recording. The 62-year-old claims reading stories to send kids to sleep doesn't work and that he used to say "Go the f*** to sleep" to his own daughter, saying, "I think at some point, she would look at me when I would come in her room, and she'd say, 'Go the f*** to sleep, Daddy?...And I'd say, 'yeah go the f*** to sleep". A video of Jackson reading the story has already gone viral, with the most popular clip on YouTube already being viewed nearly 69,000 times. The story's author said he had no idea the book would become so popular, saying, "Initially the audience was me and my wife. It captures the frustration of being in a room with a kid and feeling like you may actually never leave that room again, that you may spend the rest of your life in that dark room, trying to get your kid to go to sleep".
Since his acclaimed performance in 'Pulp Fiction', Samuel L Jackson has lent his voice to a number of movies and video games, most notably, 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas', 'The Incredibles' and 'Iron Man 2' the video game. He is rumoured to be appearing in Quentin Tarantino's forthcoming movie 'Django Unchained'.
