Sam Worthington - Sam Worthington: Not A Fan Of His Equine Co-stars
Never work with children or animals, they say and it's something that Sam Worthington has taken to heart. So much so, in fact, that he never even saw the horse that was used in The Wrath of the Titans, to play the winged demi-god Pegasus.
"Me and equine have never got along," says Sam in a Press Association report. There's something about 'em. They get skittish around me, I get skittish. Me and Pegasus especially don't get along." Luckily for Sam, then, the films between himself and Pegasus were actually filmed separately and were later put together using state of the art special effects techniques. In the film, Worthington's character, Perseus, rides Pegasus into battle, to help his father, Zeus (played by Liam Neeson).
Talking to reporters on the red carpet for the film's premiere at London's Imax theatre, Worthington also revealed that he faced some pretty gruelling fight scenes whilst he was filming Wrath of The Titans. "I get beat up a lot in this movie. I'm a rusty gun slinger who gets beat up. So my training was how many rocks can I throw at myself." Wrath of the Titans is a sequel to the 2010 movie Clash of the Titans, which grossed around $500 million globally, despite negative critical reviews. "We just took all the feedback that the first one received and we just tried to up the ante a little bit," explains Sam. "And that included Perseus' journey as well as the special effects and the 3D. We're just trying to deliver a bigger and better sequel."
