Salsa Icon Jairo Varela Laid To Rest

Salsa legend Jairo Varela has been laid to rest in his native Colombia.
Friends, family and fans of the composer and founder of the famous Grupo Niche salsa band gathered in Cali this week (begs13Aug12) to bid farewell to Varela at his funeral, and hundreds of devotees lined the streets of the city to watch as his casket was carried to his final resting place in a local cemetery.
Varela, who was known for his hits Cali Pachanguero and Una Aventura, died from a heart attack on 8 August (12), aged 62.
