Safe House Star Ryan Reynolds On 'World's Sexiest Man' Feud
'Safe House' actor Ryan Reynolds has been giving his take on the recent controversy surrounding People Magazine's World's Sexiest Man Award for 2011. The Hangover star Bradley Cooper was handed the gong, resulting in protests from fans of Ryan Gosling who thought he was more deserved of the honor.
Reynolds, who won the award in 2010, was initially unaware of the kerfuffle, and said, "Are you kidding me?" when Mtv reporter Josh Horowitz explained how Gosling fans had picketed outside People's headquarters in Los Angeles. Reynolds said, "I did not hear about this", before adding, "They're both incredibly sexy men. What they should have done was a cover on the front and cover on the back". The actor appeared at the premiere of his new movie 'Safe House' with Denzel Washington in New York this week, and explained why his co-star was sporting a black-eye. Reynolds told BBC News how he had given Washington the shiner while filming a frenetic car-chase sequence, saying he felt his head connect with something, "tall dark and expensive".
Safe House, which hits cinemas on Friday (February 10, 2012), follows the story of a young CIA agent who is tasked with looking after a fugitive before he goes on trial. The film has so-far received mixed reviews, with Todd MCCarthy of the Hollywood Reporter noting, "Terse and understated, this is a spy vs. spy tale designed to minimize talk and maximize action".
