Sadie Frost - Sadie Frost: 'Phone Hacking Made Me Distrust Jude Law'
Actress Sadie Frost has opened up about the phone hacking ordeal that turned her divorce battle with Jude Law into a living hell, insisting the pair stopped trusting each other when they were targeted by a British tabloid.
Law sued for breach of privacy and confidence against Rupert Murdoch's now-defunct News of the World, which closed last July (11) after the full extent of the hacking came to light.
He alleged his cell phone voicemail messages had been repeatedly listened to between 2003 and 2006 and accepted $208,000 (£130,000) in damages, while Frost received $80,000 (£50,000).
And now the actress has revealed the pair's relationship turned nasty after their divorce in 2003 when aspects of their private lives leaked to the press - making them "suspicious" of each other.
She tells Britain's Marie Claire magazine, "I think there was a lot of other stuff to do with the break-up that was and has been reported recently. Because of the phone hacking, when we split up there was a lot of suspicion on both sides directed towards each other.
"It made us both not trust each other. I'm not blaming the breakdown of our relationship on it, but it didn't help. It was a difficult time, and divorce is difficult. You're in a family, you're all together and then you have to try and unmesh yourselves. But time passes. I am really lucky to have such a good relationship."
Frost is proud of the way she and Law have rebuilt their friendship - insisting they are now as close as siblings.
She adds, "Jude and I were together for 10 years and we've been separated for almost eight now.
"We have to love our children so we have to love each other. He is one of the most important men in my life because he is the father of my kids.
"We're really quite close now. We're like brother and sister. It's that sort of affection, that brotherly sisterly relationship."
