R 'n' B star Chris Brown has expressed his remorse over the incident which reportedly left girlfriend Rihanna with facial injuries last weekend.
The Forever star was arrested over an alleged assault in Los Angeles and could face charges of making criminal threats or domestic abuse.
While the woman involved in the attack has not been named, it is believed Brown's girlfriend Rihanna, 20, was injured after the pair argued in a Los Angeles car park.
In his first public statement since the arrest, Brown relayed his deep regret over the arrest.
"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired," the singer said.
"I am seeking the counselling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person.
"Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong.
"While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else."
Rihanna and Brown have since split, her father confirmed on Sunday.
