Rza's Movie Debut 'The Man With The Iron Fists' Set For November

Hip-hop legend RZA is making a foray into the world of movie directing and made an appearance at Comic-Con this week to talk about 'The Man with the Iron Fists'. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the movie will be released by Universal on November 2, 2012 and will be "presented by Quentin Tarantino." Eli Roth - another of Tarantino's long-time collaborators - co-wrote the script and the movie has been billed as "an ode to kung-fu classics of the past."

Rza revealed that the idea for the film "started around 2005, 2006, after working on 'Kill Bill' with Quentin as a composer and everything, I got this urge to want to be a director and so I became his student." Eventually, the rapper came up with the screenplay and got Lucy Liu on board, as well as Russell Crowe. Given that it's his debut venture into the world of movie-making, he's got a heavyweight support network around him that should ensure the movie's success. Eli Roth apparently loved the script when he first showed him it and bolstered it with his own contributions. "He gave me a lot of advice," Rza reveals. "When I felt that I was ready and had enough wisdom. Quentin was like 'I think he's ready, let's go for it.'"

'The Man with the Iron Fists' is an epic tale of "warriors, assassins and a lone hero who descend on one fabled village in China for a winner-take-all battle for a fortune in gold."
