Ryan Reynolds - Ryan Reynolds All Set For 'Highlander' Reboot?
Ryan Reynolds has emerged as the frontrunner to play the lead in a reboot of the 1980's fantasy movie 'Highlander', about an immortal Scottish swordsman who must confront the last of his opponents, a murderous brutal barbarian.
According to Variety.com, the Hollywood actor is top of film bosses' list for the role, though it's unclear whether an actual offer has been made. Insiders say Reynolds is weighing up a series of other script and could still pursue another project - leaving him unable to appear in Highlander. '28 Weeks Later' director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is on-board to direct the remake, with Neal Moritz and Peter Davis producing. Plot details are vague, though it is thought the movie will stay true to the original and follow the Scottish swordsman who battles other immortal warriors through the centuries. The original movie starred Christopher Lambert and spawned several sequels and also a television show. Reynolds is coming off the back of Universal's 'Safe House', which grossed around $120 million domestically. He is currently working on the animated movie 'Turbo', about a garden snail who dreams of becoming the fastest snail in the world. Samuel L Jackson and Michelle Rodriguez are also lending their voices to the film.
A role in 'Highlander' would also give Reynolds another chance to show off his sword-wielding skills, following his turn as Deadpool in 'X Men Origins: Wolverine'.
