Ryan Gosling - Ryan Gosling To Make Directorial Debut With Modern Fairy Tale

Ryan Gosling will be making his directorial debut for apparent "modern fairy tale" How To Catch a Monster. This is bad news for all the ladies in the house of course, given that Gosling is most definitely one of the hottest men out there, why would he step behind the camera!? It's interesting news for everyone else though, with his first star to direct being pretty high profile - Drive and Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks.
According to Collider, Ryan said: "I am very appreciative to Marc Platt, Adam Siegel and Bold Films for being so supportive and I look forward to making this film with all of them." Platt however sounded just as exciting. He worked with Gosling on Drive, and is clearly keen to see what his one-time charge can do, saying "We are thrilled to be producing Ryan Gosling's debut as a writer and director and continue our collaboration which began on Drive. He has composed a beautifully haunting script and has a very clear vision of how he will bring it to life. His ability to draw audiences into his world as an actor will serve him well as a filmmaker."
It was excitement all around: "Ryan Gosling has established himself as a dynamic talent onscreen with incredible instincts, and that ability to connect with audiences will serve him well in the director's chair." said Sierra's Nick Meyer, who will be handling the international sales of the film. "We are excited to be involved with the next phase of his career and look forward to bringing his directorial debut to the international marketplace."

Actors That Just Can't Stand The Sight of Each Other 4306634 News

Recently, Freddie Prinze Jr. revealed that he thought Kiefer Sutherland was ‘the most unprofessional’ person he’d ever worked with during his time on the hit show 24 in 2010. While promoting his new Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels at the San Diego Comic-Con, the 38-year-old explained that he took a hiatus from Hollywood as a result of his difficulty playing Cole Ortiz on 24.

It would seem, then, that actors are often a lot better at their profession than we give them credit for. While viewers watch scenes of love, tenderness, friendship and camaraderie, backstage, certain actors have all sorts of problems with each other.

Here’s a look at other stars who’ve dazzled onscreen but fought viciously off it.

Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling

Rachel McAdams Notebook co-star, Ryan Gosling, asked her to be removed from the set

It’s been ten years since The Notebook successfully hit the cinemas and director, Nick Cassavetes, seems to feel now is the time to reveal its backstage secrets. Speaking to VH-1, Cassavetes explained that, despite their chemistry onscreen and eventual romance off it, there was one point when Gosling wanted McAdams kicked off the set.

Cassavetes revealed: ‘He’s doing a scene with Rachel and he says, "Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?" I said, "What?" He says, "I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this."’

Fortunately, Gosling was able to put his troubles aside and audiences were gifted with one of the most iconic love stories of the 21st Century.

Lindsey Lohan and America Ferrera

Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan was not well received as a guest star by America Ferrera on Ugly Betty

It looks like Ugly Betty was ugly in name and ugly in nature when Lindsey Lohan arrived as a guest star on the set of the American drama in 2008. At the time Lohan was struggling with a personal life permanently splashed all over the news with reports of wild drunkenness abound.

Rumours circulated that she smoked on set and needed a huge entourage wherever she went but Lohan’s camp claimed Ferrera was the mean one.

Either way, these mean girls couldn’t patch things up for long, and Lohan’s cameo was cut short from six episodes to four.

Bill Murray and Lucy Liu

Bill Murray
Bill Murray squabbled with his co-star, Lucy Liu, on the set of Charlie's Angels

It seems Bill Murray didn’t think that all of Charlie’s Angels were very angelic when he appeared in the first film of the franchise. It was reported that there was a big argument between Murray, who played Bosley, and Liu when he questioned her ability to act on set and she responded in kind with a couple of angel-swinging fists.

Consequently, Murray refused to reprise his role in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and Bernie Mac was brought in as a replacement.

Kenny Baker and Anthony Daniels

Anthony Daniels
Anthony Daniels did not win over his co-star, Kenny Baker, during the film of George Lucas' original Star Wars

As close as Star Wars characters R2-D2 and C-3PO may have been in the film, co-stars Baker and Daniels were anything but behind the scenes.

The pair, who worked together on the original 1977 George Lucas Star Wars, were not friendly and Baker says he has no regrets not forming a friendship with the British Daniels. Baker said: "Anthony doesn’t mix at all - he keeps himself to himself. He never wants to have a drink with any of us."

Fortunate that the two only ever had to interact on screen as their various robotic counterparts then.

Rachel McAdams Embarrassed By Notebook Audition Footage 4298460 News

The romantic film, which has just celebrated its ten year anniversary, was a global hit and launched the careers of Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. Yet when presented with footage from her audition, McAdams couldn't help but cringe at her younger self acting in a emotional scene.

The audition footage shows a young Rachel and a male offscreen reciting lines. McAdams delivers a passionate, emotional performance.

"Why are you cringing?" host Matt Lauer joked. "You got the part!"

Although the film received mixed reviews from critics, it was successful at the box office and the film's two leads developed an offscreen romance that captured the hearts of fans worldwide despite apparently fighting during filming

McAdams appeared on the show to promote her new film, A Most Wanted Man, which also stars the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. She plays Annabel Richter, a passionate young human-rights attorney in the espionage film which has been praised by critics. In an interview with Allure magazine, she spoke of her admiration for her co-star and sadness at his death.

"I learned so much from him. He really takes you under... he really took me under his wing. You feel very taken care of, but at the same time there's an element of danger: There's a crackle in every scene. He makes sure the stakes are very high, and there's a safety there, too. He had so much natural, raw talent, but he worked so hard, too. He really worked for it and didn't let up. I'm sure that wasn't easy."

Twitter Explodes Over Ryan Gosling's Baby News: Five Other Celebrity Crushes You Have No Chance With 4278262 News

Hey girl, did you know that Ryan Gosling is about to be a dad? Neither did anyone else until this week, but when he and girlfriend Eva Mendes broke the news, the internet exploded with highly inappropriate amounts of “grief.” Well, it was mostly just Twitter. Well, mostly just overdramatic Gosling and Notebook fans. But in honor of these poor lovestruck souls (you can read some choice tweets below) we’ve compiled a list of five other people you are never going to date – no matter how much you’d like to.

Ryan Gosling
Gosling and Mendes got together in 2011, so he's technically been off the market for some time now.

Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. When asked to choose between this power couple, most people would be fine with either. Jolie is intelligent, charitable, worldly and stunning. Brad Pitt, even after his hey-day is… how do we put this delicately… hot, not to mention a creative and business-savvy force to be reckoned with. Fortunately for them, they seem to have found a good thing – lasting marriage, a whole litter of children and thriving careers to boot. Unfortunately for us, this means that both are off the market for good. The same largely applies to Beyonce and Jay Z, by the way.

Click through to the next page to have more of your hopes dashed.

Cara Delevingne. This applies to any Victoria’s Secret model out there (sorry to burst your bubble, guys) but we’re focusing on Cara, because her social media presence makes her seem so relatable, just like one of us. Well, she’s not. Last year, the Brit’s net worth was estimated at $1 million and with contracts with the likes of Chanel, Burberry, Victoria’s Secret and Fendi among others, she’s likely to double that in no time. So while she can pull a mean duck face and reportedly enjoys playing Call of Duty, you aren’t likely to spark a social network romance with Cara Delevingne.

Cara Delevingne
No chance.

Tom Hiddleston. Mr Hiddleston has enjoyed a meteoric rise since 2011, which may be why he seems so charming, down to earth, slightly awkward and just so dreamy, right? He was also voted ELLE’s man of the year for 2014, so clearly there are a lot of ladies and gents out there, who’d really like a shot at the Hiddles. Like a lot. The man has millions of fangirls, fanboys an variations thereupon across the globe and is continuously on the road for various acting engagements. Just this year he starred in the National Theatre’s production of Coriolanus in London, then filmed Crimson Peak in Canada, had a cameo in Muppets: Most Wanted, which filmed in LA and is now working on the thriller High-Rise in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Point being, the man is very busy, very famous and very, very private.

Tom Hiddleston
Nope.

Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift makes a huge effort to show us all that she’s just one of the girls and for that, we love her. She’s also down with the ideas of feminism, which is pretty cool of her. Judging by her instagram and twitter, she’s also a massive dork, which tends to make you forget that Tay Tay had one of the most successful albums of last year, Red, followed by a worldwide tour and that now, everybody wants a piece of Taylor. Kudos to her for handling it all so gracefully, for still giving advice to young women on twitter and for inundating us with pictures of her cat, just like any other 24-year-old. Point still stands though – if you think your crush on Taylor Swift is unique, think again. However long her string of past lovers may be (none of our business, by the way), commoners are not invited.

Eva Mendes Pregnant With Ryan Gosling’s Baby? Reports Suggest Actress Is Two Months From Childbirth 4277759 News

Eva Mendes could be seven months pregnant with Ryan Gosling's baby, unconfirmed reports have suggested. As well as expecting a child, the couple could also be gearing up to get married very soon, if reports from OK! Magazine are to be believed.

"Eva is thrilled. She's been ready for motherhood for a while now, and to be sharing this experience with Ryan is a dream come true for her," an insider told the US magazine.

The source underlined the potential significance of fatherhood for Gosling, saying "The source continued, "Ryan grew up without a dad, so he always said when he had kids, he'd be there no matter what. This is it for him."

The rumour seems to have been fuelled by an incident when the Place Beyond The Pines star reportedly told officers Transportation Security Administration point for a routine pre-flight security check that she would not be able to pass through the body scanner "because she's pregnant"; a claim that was later denied by the actress.

The acting couple, who have been dating since 2011, could also be set to wed very shortly in keeping with Eva's traditional values. Another source added: "Ryan doesn't think they need to marry just because they are having a baby but Eva believes it's important to have their lives fully intertwined."

The actress has spoken in the past about starting a family, revealing that she didn't feel the pressure to have children in a hurry. "In a weird way I fluctuate between not giving it any thought and wanting to leave it up to whoever's running the show, then giving it a lot of thought. I have to be honest, I don't feel the urge yet," she told Stylist in 2011.

More: Eva Mendes dislikes showing off her curves.

"Maybe I'll do it when I'm 41 or something; that's happened to a lot of people I know who decided not to. I don't feel the ticking clock.I feel I have time. Whether that's a reality or not, I don't know. I'll just be patient."

Neither Eva Mendes nor Ryan Gosling has commented publically on the reports.

Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams 'Screamed' At Each Other Whilst Filming 'The Notebook' 4270101 News

Everyone may rave about Ryan Gosling's chivalrous portrayal of Noah Calhoun in The Notebook but he was hardly as gallant off screen with his co-star Rachel McAdams. The Notebook's director, Nick Cassavetes, spoke to VH1 about how Gosling and McAdams got on whilst filming the 2004 romantic drama. Apparently it wasn't well!

Gosling and McAdams dated for two years after they had met on the set of the Notebook but it wasn't always smooth sailing for the couple as Cassavetes described. Gosling reportedly demanded McAdams be removed with the set as he was struggling to work with her and even wanted a stand in actress to run lines with. Cassavetes tells of one incident in which the pair was not getting on well and Gosling asked him to remove McAdams from the set. He even requested another actress be brought in so he could practise his lines.

Apparently Gosling asked Cassavetes, in front of 150 people, to remove McAdams saying '"Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?" I said, "What?" He says, "I can't. I can't do it with her. I'm just not getting anything from this."'

Ryan Gosling
Ryan Gosling allegedly told director Cassavetes to remove McAdams from set.

Following the incident Cassavetes called the two together and attempted to make the pair talk through it. In a room with the film's producer, Gosling and McAdams allegedly "started screaming and shouting at each other." Except it appears the two actors didn't need to talk it through, so much as shout it out. Cassavetes explained how the two "had it out" and how they began to respect one another.

Gosling was apparently impressed with McAdams "for standing up for her character and Rachel was happy to get that out in the open." Their relationship certainly seems to have improved from that point as they dated for two years from 2005 and 2007 and briefly reunited in 2008. Since then, 33-year-old Gosling has been dating Eva Mendes since 2011 and McAdams, after dating Michael Sheen, has recently romantically linked to Patrick Sambrook, a music manager.

What Chemistry? Ryan Gosling And Rachel McAdams Fought During ‘The Notebook’ Filming 4269193 News

The Notebook has just turned ten, bringing the classic romance movie back into the headlines with a deluge of new interviews and trivia regarding the film. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, who play the couple central to the movie adaptation's story, have long been considered as one of the most powerful onscreen couples.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks, the story charts two lovers who fall in love during the early 1940s. Local country boy Noah Calhoun and heiress Allie Hamilton embark on a romance despite a myriad of issues, including the implications of their different classes and disapproval of Allie's parents.

The chemistry between the pair was so intense that the actors dated in real-life after wrapping filming. However, director Nick Cassavetes has now revealed that the two didn't exactly hit it off during filming. "Maybe I'm not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not," he told VH-1.

He continued, "Ryan came to me, and there's 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, 'Nick come here.' And he's doing a scene with Rachel and he says, 'Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?'"

The director explained his reaction to Gosling's request: "I said, 'What?' Then he says, 'I can't. I can't do it with her. I'm just not getting anything from this.'"

The filmmaker continued, describing how the situation was eventually resolved. "We went into a room with a producer; they started screaming and yelling at each other. I walked out. At that point I was smoking cigarettes. I smoked a cigarette and everybody came out like, 'All right let's do this.'"

"And it got better after that, you know? They had it out. I think Ryan respected her for standing up for her character and Rachel was happy to get that out in the open. The rest of the film wasn't smooth sailing, but it was smoother sailing," he added.

In the same interview, Cassavetes also describes the studio's unease towards his choice to cast two relatively unknown actors. Little did they know that the film would propel the pair on to the Hollywood A-list and create 21st century cinematic icons.

"When I told [New Line Cinema] I wanted to hire Ryan for the lead, they kind of looked at me like I was out of my mind," he said, explaining "And we found Rachel through an audition process and she was wonderful. A lot of studios wouldn't have had the courage to put two relatively unknown people in a movie like this. But they did and, gosh, weren't they terrific?"

Rachel McAdams' 'The Notebook' Audition Tape Will Give You Shivers 4260118 News

Once of the world's best-loved romance movies, The Notebook, has just turned ten, marking a decade since the then little-known actors Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were catapulted into the spotlight with their breath-taking performance and onscreen chemistry.

Gosling's role as Noah was apparently secured fairly early on but director Nick Cassavetes had an extensive hunt for a leading lady to play Allie. In a newly-released audition tape, it's clear to see why Cassavetes and Gosling knew instantly that they wanted the Mean Girls actress for the movie.

McAdams read the scene in which Allie and Noah are arguing about their relationship: he wants her to be with him whilst she still feels an allegiance to her wealthy fiancé. The high tension scene is wrought with emotion and frustration, which McAdams perfectly conveys in her passionate audition.

"I read the script the night before and bawled my eyes out," McAdams, now 35, confessed in a movie featurette. "It was the best audition experience I've ever had." Meanwhile, Cassavetes recalled that nine "very well-known" actresses had auditioned for the role but "When Miss McAdams came in and read, it was apparent that she was 'the one.'"

"I didn't know who she was," the director admitted before revealing that Rachel had been "last-minute addition." He said that of the nine well-know stars "some of them were really, really great, but when Ms. McAdams came in and read it was apparent that she was the one," via E!.

"She left and Nick and I were just like, 'Oh my God,' we gave each other a big hug, and it was just such a big relief," Gosling said while Cassavetes added, "At the end of the day, we went with the best person for the job." Even watching McAdams' bare bones, out of costume performance now is enough to send a shiver down your spine. One of the most effective aspects of the movie was Allie and Noah's believable romance, which translated into real-life dating for Gosling and McAdams.

Nicolas Cage Wears Nicolas Cage Meme T-Shirt To Guns N' Roses Concert 4237874 News

In what may be our favourite Instagram post of all time, rock band Guns N’ Roses have shared an image of Nicolas Cage…wearing Nicolas Cage. The band posted the image, which features the iconic actor wearing a cowboy hat, blue blazer, copious beads around his neck, a pair of sunglasses and…finest of all, a t-shirt featuring an image from one of his famous fan-made memes.

Nicolas Cage may be one of Hollywood’s most famous actors, but over the past few years it’s the collection of memes and fan videos dedicated to him which he’s become best-known for. Cage’s habit of totally surrendering himself, body and soul, to a role has led to a few onscreen outbursts which fans go freaking nuts for.

Some of the most famous Nicolas Cage memes include Nic Cage Has Great Hair, Cage loves Karamari and Nic Cage Doesn’t Change Facial Expression. His dramatic outburst in the 2007 movie “The Wicker Man” led to the “Not The Bees!” YouTube video, which has been watched nearly 2 million times and has been the subject of various remixes.

So, fans were thrilled to see the actor wearing one of his own memes on a t-shirt, showing that he’s in on the whole joke just as much as everyone else is. Of course he is, he’s goddamn Nicolas Cage, king of the internet!

Guns N’ Roses posted the pic of Cage, which was taken when he attended one of their concerts in Las Vegas over the weekend. The image is reminiscent of that time that Ryan Gosling wore a t-shirt of Macaulay Culkin, only for Culkin to then take a photo of Gosling wearing the t-shirt and print it on a top of his own. Very postmodern.

Celebs do have a habit of wearing t-shirts with other famous people printed on them (although, unlike Nic, it’s usually not a picture of themselves…). Miley Cyrus has been seen sporting a t-shirt with an image of rapper Tupac on it (because she’s so totally gangsta these days), while Katy Perry has been spotted wearing Madonna. Madonna in turn has been papped wearing a t-shirt with an image of American president Barack Obama while recently single Rita Ora was once snapped wearing a t-shirt featuring a sketch of her friend Cara Delevingne with the caption ‘Queen Delevingne’ scrawled across it.

Way to show your support for each other, famous people! Although we still hope to see Nicolas Cage wearing many more Nicolas Cage t-shirts in the future.
