Ryan Gosling got fired from 'The Lovely Bones' for "drinking" ice cream.

The actor was replaced by Mark Wahlberg just days before filming was due to commence because he and director Peter Jackson had had different visions for the character of family patriarch Jack Salmon.

Ryan - who gained 60lbs in his preparation for the role explained: "We had a different idea of how the character should look. I really believed he should be 210 pounds."

"I was melting Haagen Dazs and drinking it when I was thirsty."

The 30-year-old star insists he doesn't hold a grudge about his firing and believes it came about as a result of poor communication between cast and crew.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: "We didn't talk very much during the preproduction process, which was the problem.

"It was a huge movie, and there's so many things to deal with, and he couldn't deal with the actors individually. I just showed up on set, and I had gotten it wrong.

"Then I was fat and unemployed."
