Bradley Cooper - Ryan Gosling Fans Furious At World's Sexiest Man Result

The Hangover actor was announced as the winner of the annual prize on Wednesday (16 November, 2011), taking over from last year's recipient Ryan Reynolds, however, fans of Gosling were bewildered by the decision and launched an immediate online protest. One fan began circulating a blog page titled '63 reasons Bradley Cooper isn't the sexiest man alive' - the page contained 63 pictures of Gosling. Another Twitter user told followers, "I want a recount on the votes... Ryan Gosling is "Sexiest Man Alive", while another jokingly offered, "Bradley Cooper is the Sexiest Man Alive which must mean that Ryan Gosling was just involved in some tragic acid to the face mishap". Though the majority seem to favour the Ides of March star, a modest Cooper received the award with typical grace, saying, "I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this.I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying". Others to miss out on the prize included The Wire star Idris Elba, heartthrob Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Aniston's latest catch, screenwriter Justin Theroux.

Although Cooper pipped him to Sexiest Man, Ryan Gosling can look forward to a busy awards season, with his performances in both 'Drive' and 'The Ides of March' tipped for nominations.
