Pussy Riot - Russian Punk Star Moved To Solitary Confinement In Prison Camp
Jailed Pussy Riot star Maria Alekhina has been confined to a 'safe' cell at a prison in Russia's Ural Mountains in an effort to protect her from other inmates.
The 24-year-old punk star and two bandmates were jailed for two years earlier this year (Aug12) after being found guilty of hooliganism for performing a protest concert in a Moscow church.
Reports suggest Alekhina has been bullied and tormented by other prisoners over her religious views, and a spokesman for the Federal Penitentiary Service has confirmed her request to be moved to a solitary cell has been granted.
Bandmate Nadezhda Tolokonnikova also remains behind bars, but Yekaterina Samutsevich was recently released on appeal.
