Russell Watson - Russell Watson Furious Over Olympics Snub
Celebrated English tenor Russell Watson is furious he won't be part of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games celebrations in London, insisting he deserves to be there just as much Duran Duran
The British pop group will mark the start of the sporting event on 27 July (12) at a gig which will include Stereophonics, Snow Patrol and Paolo Nutini, while several other bands, including Blur and New Order, have been asked to close the ceremony in August (12).
And Watson is upset he's not on either bill, admitting he's crushed he won't be able to represent his country.
He tells Digital Spy, "What I can't understand is why they haven't thought of having a bloke that's survived two f**king brain tumours, who's the best-known tenor in the UK and has been around for ages and can sing like I can sing to perform at the Olympics."
Watson was first diagnosed with a pituitary brain tumour in 2006 and, after undergoing removal surgery, he experienced a regrowth the following year (12). The star has since made a full recovery.
