Onlookers say Brand didn't realize his error "for a while", and then used his mobile phone, which is illegal in California. A confused Brand finally made it onto Sunset Boulevard and sped away. Perhaps the comedian could be excused a couple of errors, given the state of his personal life at the moment. His soon-to-be ex-wife Katy Perry filed divorce papers in a Los Angeles court this week, effectively ending their 14 month marriage following a surprising split. Brand was the first to file the papers in late December 2011, with speculation suggesting Perry waited for him to make the first move in order to please her strictly religious parents. Though the exact reason for the split is yet to be determined, it is understood that Russell had decided not to take a single penny of Perry's estimated $80 million fortune, despite being entitled to exactly half of it - given that the couple failed to sign a pre-nuptial agreement.

According to Tmz.com, Perry doodled a silly smiley face on the bottom of her divorce papers.
