Run Fatboy, Run Keeps Top Spot

Run Fatboy, Run has kept the number one spot in the UK box office for the fourth week running.

Though a number of new entries shot into the top ten, the Simon Pegg comedy is still riding high.

Directed by former Friends star David Schwimmer, the movie features Pegg as an overweight security guard who decides to run a marathon to win back the fiance he dumped at the altar five years previously.

Having already held off the challenge of Quentin Tarantino's new movie Death Proof – which entered the UK charts at number six and has now fallen out of the top ten – Run Fatboy, Run has managed to keep Oscar hopeful Atonement in second place again.

The comedy – which also stars Thandie Newton, Hank Azaria and Dylan Moran, took £988,788 across 398 screens in the last seven days.

The highest new entry was at number five, with Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween earning £620,844 in box office receipts at 372 UK cinemas.

Michael Clayton, the movie supposedly presenting George Clooney with his best ever shot of a best actor Oscar, garnered £601,196, while new Jodie Foster revenge thriller The Brave One pulled in £497,838, showing at 377 sites.

And rounding off the new entries was Mr Woodcock, a comedy starring Billy Bob Thornton as a sadistic gym coach who ends up dating the mother of a pupil he once terrorised (Seann William Scott).

The Bourne Ultimatum, the third instalment in the mega-successful action franchise, clung on to a top ten spot, dropping from fifth to ninth.
