Oprah Winfrey - Rosie O'donnell Pulling No Punches On New Show

ROSIE O'DONNELL is already causing a stir on U.S. television with her new talk show, which hasn't skirted on dealing with some squeamish and controversial issues.

The show made its debut on Oprah Winfrey's network - herself a chat show legend - on October 10th 2011 and has since gone on to address issues such as O'Donnell's own menopausal sex drive and police brutality at the Occupy Wall Street protests. It's caused criticism in some quarters, but O'Donnell is used to it, having made her name when hosting the hugely successful 'Rosie O'Donnell Show' throughout the 1990s and into the beginning of the new millennium. She became a strong advocate of gun control in the wake of the Columbine shootings of 1999. Later, as presenter of 'The View,' her staunch views on the war in Iraq led to her exit from the programme.

Speaking about her current show, O'Donnell told the Associated Press "I'm going to talk about things that matter as well as entertaining fun things. But we're not going to leave stuff out. We're going to talk about what's current - what's happening and what people are talking about in real life." The-49 year-old was full of praise for Oprah Winfrey, who manufactured her return to television, saying, "Oprah is so supportive.She said, Trust your instincts, go with your gut, you know what to do, trust yourself.' And that's what I've been doing."
