Ronnie Wood Upset About Wife's Auction Plans
ROLLING STONES star Ronnie Wood has been left "shocked and disappointed" by his ex-wife Jo's decision to sell off his clothing, artwork, instruments and belongings at a California auction next month (Oct12).
Bosses at Julien's Auctions announced the sale of the Woods' shared possessions on Tuesday (25Sep12), and the big news has prompted an angry response from the rocker.
A representative has released a statement insisting that he has nothing to do with the auction.
It reads, "Ronnie was asked by Jo some time ago if he wished to add some items to an auction and he said he did not want to participate. He is therefore shocked and disappointed that this auction is being misrepresented as a joint sale. This is not the case.
"He is staggered that some of the items being offered at the auction are clearly his personal belongings, which did not pass to Jo as part of the divorce proceedings.
"The tour clothes being offered belong to the Rolling Stones and are not hers to sell. Ronnie feels saddened that Jo has taken this course of action and wants the public to know he has not teamed up with Jo on this outrageous sale."
The items will go under the hammer in Beverly Hills on 27 October (12).
Speaking about the lots, which were shipped to Los Angeles in ocean containers and took three months to arrive, Julien's Auctions boss Darren Julien appeared to be unaware of the controversy - when he announced the sale, he insisted Ronnie and Jo are "still very good friends" and they simply decided "it was time to simplify and sell some of their property".
A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit MusiCares, a nonprofit organisation of The Recording Academy that provides emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery resources to music people in need.
