Ronan Keating - Ronan Keating's Ball Breaks Fundraising Record
Irish star Ronan Keating raised more than $1 million (£625,000) for charity on Saturday (01Dec12) with his seventh annual benefit concert in London.
The singer invited a host of pop stars to perform at his Emeralds & Ivy Ball, including boy band Lawson and former Catatonia frontwoman Cerys Matthews.
Keating also hit the stage for a short set, which included a duet with Matthews on Christmas classic Fairytale of New York.
The event, held at Supernova in the U.K. capital, pulled in more than $1.4 million (£850,000) for Cancer Research Uk and the Marie Keating Foundation, which the singer set up after losing his mum to the disease.
After the event, Keating revealed the 2012 ball broke all previous fundraising records for the event.
In a series of posts on Twitter.com, he writes, "An amazing night at Emerald Ivy Ball London... Together we raised over 850K sterling. Biggest year ever... Thanx (sic) to... everyone that bought tables and donated massive amount raised £850K. Biggest ever. So proud."
