Roger Daltrey Reveals Keith Moon Olympics Invite Was For Real
It was rumoured last month (Apr12) that The Who manager Bill Curbishley had been contacted by an official from the U.K. Olympics committee enquiring about the possibility of Moon's attendance - only to learn the rocker had died in 1978.
Daltrey was quizzed about the bizarre claims during an appearance on U.S. talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday (03May12), when he admitted the gossip was indeed true.
Laughing about the mix-up, Daltrey said, "It could only happen in Britain. We are so organised. We got a letter - well, an email - requesting could Keith Moon attend the opening ceremony (of the Olympics) and our manager sent an email back saying, 'Well actually he currently resides at Golders Green Crematorium, where he's been for the last 34 years! But maybe if you got a round table, some candles and some glasses, you might be able to get him back (through a seance)!'"
