Golub, who has been blind since last year, was patiently waiting at the station for his train to arrive, when he walked off the platform after mistakenly thinking his ride had pulled in. Onlookers, horrified by the events, acted quickly and after a team effort, he managed to get back to safety in the nick of time. The tube brushed his leg, whilst his guide dog remained on the platform. After a brief hospital visit, Golub was released with only minor injuries. The 57-year-old who has also toured with Billy Squier, developed blindness last year and was diagnosed with a collapsed optic nerve
Relieved to be alive, he told The New York Post "I was just walking along and I thought the train was in front of me. But I just stepped off the platform onto the rails... I can't even tell you how terrifying it was. I can see colours so I could see the train coming at me, and I tried to get away as fast as I could. Nobody had enough time when I was jumping in front of the train to stop me, but there was a guy who helped pull me up. I'm lucky I didn't fall underneath the train."
