U.S. politician-turned-reality TV star Rod Blagojevich is facing a jail term after he was convicted of 17 corruption charges on Monday (27Jun11).
The former Governor of Illinois, who also starred in Celebrity Apprentice, was found guilty of lying to the Fbi last August (10) but was sent for retrial after the jury was deadlocked on 23 other charges, including bribery, extortion and wire fraud.
On Monday, he was convicted of 17 federal corruption charges and is facing the possibility of up to 20 years in prison.
Blagojevich was arrested in December 2008 over allegations he took part in a scheme to "auction off" U.S. President Barack Obama's vacated United States Senate seat to the highest bidder.
He is due back in court for a pre-sentence hearing in August (11).
