Rock Legends Faith No More Confirm Reunion

by | 27 February 2009

Rock band Faith No More have announced they are to reunite for a tour later this year.

The Epic stars last played together in Lisbon, Portugal in April 1998, with frontman Mike Patton forming several side projects since, including Tomahawk, Mr Bungle and Fantomas.

But almost 12 years after their last album Album of the Year was released, the five-piece have announced they will tour Europe this summer, with the lineup for that LP reunited.

"During the entire ten years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike," they said in a statement.

"Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.”

"What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it," it continued.

"And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realise that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right… and so with this we've decided to hold our collective breaths and jump off this cliff.... BACK, GOD FORBID, INTO THE MONKEY CAGE!!!"

The statement confirms the tour lineup will be that of Album of the Year, with Jon Hudson on guitar, after original member Jim Martin left the band in 1993.

"We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of Faith No More," the statement continued.

"Who know where this will end or what it will bring up...only the future knows. But we are about to find out!"

At the height of their success, Faith No More were nominated for a best album Grammy, with 1990 release The Real Thing selling more than four million copies worldwide.
