Rock Band Surprised Taylor Swift Hand-picked Them As Tour Support
The quartet, which has mainly scored hits on the Christian music charts, will open for Swift on the North American leg of her Speak Now trek, but frontman Bear Rinehart admits he was surprised to hear from the Love Story hitmaker.
And Rinehart hints Swift had to fight label bosses to land Needtobreathe as her main support act.
He tells WENN, "It was actually really natural. She just called - she's a big fan, which is really nice... She's been a fan for a little while... and even though it didn't totally make sense for us, we're probably not what people (record label bosses) would have had, she really liked the band a lot and made it happen."
But the South Carolina group aren't planning on changing their sound to increase their appeal to Swift's young fans - The Outsiders stars hope to impress as they are.
He adds, "I don't think we're gonna do too much different. If we can get in front of people we can hopefully make some fans and identify with people... We're gonna be ourselves."
Swift will begin her 19-week tour with Needtobreathe in Omaha, Nebraska on Friday (27May11).
