Robin Gibb's Dying Wish Was To Go Home

Bee Gees legend Robin Gibb told his wife Dwina he wanted to go home moments before he died.

The veteran singer passed away in a medical centre last month (May12) following a long battle with liver and colon cancer, and was laid to rest after a moving funeral service on Friday (08Jun12).

Dwina has now spoken out to detail the heartbreaking moment her husband slipped away, revealing his dying wish was return to his beloved home in Oxfordshire, England.

She tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "He mouthed to me, 'Dwina, I want to go home.' Instead, he is now on his last journey - but at least I know he is safe. I am proud of Robin's life, what he has achieved and the inspiration and the happiness he gave so many people... I am devastated to have lost my best friend, my husband, my brother. Robin was everything to me. I shall miss him for the rest of my life."

Dwina also tells of the emotional tribute the couple's son Robin-John paid to his father at Friday's funeral, saying, "I was moved to tears during our son RJ's tribute to Robin. He said, 'My best friend. My daddy. I love you so much. You were a brilliant light and a true inspiration'. When he said the word 'daddy', RJ became a little boy again, vulnerable, missing his father so much. I broke down."

Recalling the devastating moment when Gibb was laid to rest, she adds, "It was like being in a dream. I felt like an observer. It was the only way my mind and heart could cope... I know Robin would have appreciated everything about the funeral, though. It was him to a T. He didn't like hearses, which is why his coffin was carried in a glass carriage."

Beautiful sharing ~ and they didn't have to. I hope her and all his family and friends' days are awe filled, peaceful, serene now. They have been through so much. Robin IS safe now and no more suffering. We need cures and better treatments for cancer.
