Robin Gibb - Robin Gibb Fights For Life In A Coma

Robin Gibb has fallen into a coma after contracting pneumonia whilst being treated for cancer, the Guardian reports. The 62-year-old Bee Gee singer underwent surgery on his bowel 18 months ago when a tumour was discovered, later being diagnosed with cancer of the colon and later the liver. Although it was believed his cancer was in remission as early as last month, the latest counts of deteriorating health coincide with reports of a secondary tumour.

The singer's family have been keeping a bedside vigil at the hospital he is being treated at in Chelsea, London. His wife DWINA, brother and band-mate Barry Gibb, daughter MELISSA and sons SPENCER and ROBIN-JOHN are believed to be at his vigil.

Robin's twin brother and band-mate, Maurice, died from the same bowl condition that initially led doctors to operate on Robin in 2003. His younger brother ANDY, who was not part of the group but still enjoyed a successful but short lived career as a solo artist, died of heart failure in 1988 - at the height of his solo career.

Gibb has enjoyed a 60 year run in the music business, from humble beginnings alongside his brothers in the 1950s-80s, to his recent venture into classical music with A Requiem For The Titanic.
