Robin Gibb Amazes With Coma Progress
Singer and former Bee Gee Robin Gibb has astounded the medical and entertainment world as he shows signs of shrugging off his recent coma. The star slipped into a coma last week following a bout of pneumonia, having recently battled cancer. Since then he has been nodding his head and communicating with loved ones after they played him music during all-night bedside vigils. According to a report with STV, the singer even wept in response to one song, Roy Orbison's hit 'Crying'.
The leader of the bedside vigil was Robin's wife Dwina, who told reporters at the Impartial Reporter that those by his bedside are trying to revive Gibb "through music." The Orbison classic was but one of the songs used, with Gibbs own composition 'Don't Cry Alone' also being in heavy rotation for the event.
Robin, who is a teetotal vegan, was admitted into hospital for checks on a similar bowel problem that took his brother Maurice in 2003. It was during these checks in the mid-2000s that doctors first noticed the tumorous growth he had inside him, with the Bee Gee being in and out of hospital ever since. His younger brother Andy, who was never part of the Bee Gees, died in 1988 of heart failure at the mere age of 30.
