Roberta Flack - Roberta Flack Pays Tribute To Ralph Macdonald At Funeral
Soul singer Roberta Flack bid a fond farewell to late songwriter Ralph Macdonald on Thursday (22Dec11) as she performed at his funeral service in New York.
The Grammy-nominated Just the Two of Us hitmaker passed away in Stamford, Connecticut on Sunday (18Dec11) after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 67.
A memorial was held for the star at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in his native Harlem on Thursday, when Flack sang one of MacDonald's last compositions, titled We Are a Family, and paid tribute to the man who penned a slew of her hits, including Where is the Love.
Addressing the 300 mourners at the service, she said, "Ralph was a very important part of my life. He was the kind of musician who could play and understand any kind of music. There were no limits."
MacDonald's remains were later cremated in a private ceremony, according to the New York Daily News.
