Robert Plant - Robert Plant Plays Led Zeppelin Hits At Secret Gig

ROBERT PLANT played a number of LED ZEPPELIN classics during a secret gig in London on September 1st 2010. Appearing at 'One Mayfair', formerly St Mark's Church, with his new group, 'Band of Joy', Plant treated a select few fans to a set that contained some of his biggest hits.

BAND OF JOY adapted a whole range of Zeppelin material to fit with their bluesy sound, 'Rock And Roll' - originally a visceral heavy track, became a delicate rockabilly, and 'Misty Mountain Hop' was transformed into a sprawling tranquil affair. Britain's Independent newspaper explained how Plant's delivery now differs from his Led Zeppelin years, stating , "Plant himself is far less vocally demonstrative than in his shrill Zeppelin heyday, using the softer, more intimate tones that were showcased on the award-winning Raising Sand album. It's almost as if he's gone back to reconnect with his own folk roots that were largely abandoned years ago".

ROBERT PLANT and the BAND OF JOY are set to embark on a UK tour this October - they play Cardiff's St David's Hall on the 26th, Birmingham's Symphony Hall on the 27th, and finally, Manchester's Palace Theatre on the 31st.
