Robert Pattinson - Robert Pattinson Took Driving Lessons For Twilight Franchise

The British hunk had to learn how to become an experienced driver to convincingly convey his vampire character Edward Cullen's thrill of speed, but the 26 year old admits his first experience on the open road did not go too well.

He tells BlackBook magazine, "The first time anyone said anything about my being famous was when I tried to buy a car a few years ago. It was an '89 Bmw convertible for $1,000 (£625) I found on (classifieds website) Craigslist. I went out to the hills to take it on a test drive and, of course, almost crashed."

And the actor's celebrity status crushed his chances of asking for a discount.

He adds, "A few days later I went back to pick it up. I had said I was an actor and the guy had looked me up. When I went back, he said, 'Dude, do you realise you're (ranked) number two on (the) IMDb (Internet Movie Database)?' I thought, 'S**t, now I can't ask for the 200 bucks off.'"
