Robert Pattinson Told Journalists: I've Never Been Betrayed

With hindsight, Robert Pattinson 's comments at a press day in July for the final Twilight movie make grisly reading for fans of the British star. Just days before Kristen Stewart admitted to being unfaithful to him with director Rupert Sanders, Pattinson hinted that his relationship was as solid as a rock.

The London born actor, 26, was said to have been stunned by Stewart's admittance, though was quoted days earlier by the UK's Daily Mirror saying, "No, I've never been betrayed by people who are actually in my life, like my friends or even my acquaintances. No one has ever done anything". The couple had been together for three years, since meeting on the set of the vampire saga, and had shared a $6 million home in Los Angeles. However, she was snapped in an intimate clinch with Sanders - who is married to model Liberty Ross - and news of the affair broke soon after. Ironically, Robert's interview on July 16 also touched upon the modern day celebrity and how high profile stars have to be ultra-careful about their behaviour in public, saying, "I wish this (Twilight) had happened 12 years ago, before camera phones and website Tmz. Then it would have been amazing.Being a successful actor... if you just had the good side of fame it would have been unbelievable. Now actors are the most conservative people in the world because you can't do anything. Literally... you can't do anything at all. You can't trust anyone because it all becomes part of your career".

It's looking increasingly unlikely that the relationship will get back on track, and Robert is said to be hiding out at his friend Reese Witherspoon's house. All we know, is that the promotional tour for Twilight Breaking Dawn: Part 2 is going to be very awkward indeed.
