Robert Pattinson has paid homage to David Cronenberg by recreating scenes from the filmmaker's early movies for an edgy new photoshoot.
The Twilight star, who worked with the director on new drama Cosmopolis, took part in a 13-hour shoot with photographer Eliot Lee Hazel to revisit Cronenberg's films.
In one creepy photo, the Brit can be seen lying shirtless on a couch with a hole in his stomach - a reference to Cronenberg's Videodrome, in which the protagonist inserts video tapes into the slit.
The spread, for France's Premiere magazine, also features a snap depicting Pattinson in bed with a pregnant woman and a clone of himself, which echoes Cronenberg's Dead Ringers.
In an accompanying interview, the hunk, who turned 26 years old on Sunday (13May12), explains how working with the Canadian gave him a new feeling of confidence.
He says, "Filming Cosmopolis with David Cronenberg changed something in me. It gave me b**ls.
"Before, I spent my time doubting myself. As soon as I read a script I liked, I was working myself up, asking myself if I was good enough. Now, I tell myself, 'F*** it! If they want to hire you, go!'"
